On Sunday Cleckheaton RUFC U7’s travelled to Ilkley. Being Mother’s Day, Cleckheaton were missing quite a few. However the players that were able to attend played three consecutive games with three different Ilkley sides winning all of their matches.
The key difference between the sides was notably Cleckheaton’s spirited sliding defence along with their awareness to intercept and steal the ball at the right moment.
In attack Tom Wassell ran hard and straight, Tyler Hardy constantly backed up to poach many a try and Joe Oldroyd scored a fistful of tries.
‘100% effort’ went to Sam Booth for his, as always, excellent and consistent performance with 'Player of the Day' being awarded to William Nicholson for his try scoring endeavours and the numerous interception tries.
