The U14's Girls played Sandal last week in their first pool game of the Yorkshire Cup. The girls cup runs differently to the boys, and at this age group consists of 4 pools, and has finally been reinstated this year after over 6 years of the competition not being run for the them.
The girls have always had a tough game against our local rivals, but were excited for what lay ahead.
With a large crowd gathering , they did not disappoint, scoring within the first 6 minutes to give them the confidence boost needed. Several tries followed within the first half giving Cleck a comfortable lead at half time.
Having being disappointed with their game at Castleford the week before, they were determined to to keep their foot on the pedal and secure the win with as many points as they could to help their position within the pool.
Sandal really began to put more pressure on in the second half, slowly down our girls for a big part of it, but they struggled to get into their own half throughout. Superb defending on any breaks stopped them in their tracks.
At the final whistle, the scoreline sat at 48,0. Well done to all within the team for playing their socks off throughout.
Mia and Amaaya both made their debuts during the game and impressed throughout, whilst Izzy and Ava G shared the Parents' Player award, Polly and Amber shared the Coaches' award and Izzy also received the Opposition Player award.
Our try scorers were Izzy x 1, Polly x 3, Amber x 2, Ava G x 1, Joss x 1. Amber scored 4 conversions.
What a fantastic whole team performance!
